Once I finish one project I am on the search for a new one! I was browsing ravelry patterns when I saw this one:
That is the Battenberg Blanket by Sandra Paul . I fell in love hard and we just got a new sofa! Then I read that she crocheted 500 squares and I shivered while I walked a skein to the ball winder. I got to work and soon realized that my dollar store crochet hook was giving me some pain. I decided I would look into better crochet hooks. I found the Clover crochet hooks which had great reviews but I was very skeptical that just and extra couple of dollars would make a difference. I thought I was going to have to spend $20 on some fancy hook. I bought the Clover hook to give a try and OMG it is amazing. I mean like seriously amazing and for $5. Seriously I do not think I have ever been happier with a purchase for knitting. I love my Hiya Hiya interchangeable knitting needles, but I also asked for them for Christmas because they aren't $5. If you crochet these Clover hooks need to be in your life.
So with a new hook and some time to spare sitting at my sons events (karate, baseball, and drumming). I got to work crocheting squares.
So far I have .......... 50 done. Lol. I think I am going to aim for maybe 250 or so squares since I am using my DK non superwash Tender yarn. Since it is DK the squares are bigger and well it only needs to be a personal size blanket, not a king size bed blanket! I am pretty happy with this project so far and I think it will be easy to work on during summer since its only a small square at a time and nothing big hot and sweaty! I will admit at this time I rarely knit with cotton, so summer knitting tends to be really sweaty. I did however make chair feet out of cotton once!
I am hoping for a yarn update next Thursday and maybe some other surprise news as well!
