One more update before the holiday craze! The update will be all Tender!
Some new colors and some colors that are on other bases. I hope you enjoy and have a great holiday!
It sure got cold quick so I had my son pick out two skeins of Tender to make him a hat. He picked a Dive and Seamist. After a week or so I finished the hat!
Its a double layer hat. Basically you knit a hat with increases and knit to length and then double it and decrease. The inside has wide stripes and the outside has small stripes. I used about half of each skein. He loves the hat and wore it today when we went outside to leaf blow in the light rain, which turned into rain rain in which he was splashing water at me and I was using the leaf blower to blow it at him. We has a blast and he did not complain once about being cold! Hurray!
This is better representative of the color. My son is dying some angora yarn that I spun a while ago today in his favorite color light turquoise. He calls the yarn his fuzzy. It is going to be a scarf for him. Hopefully this will go quick! I hope it isn't too cold where you are and there will be an update this week before the holiday crazy starts to set in here!
I have been feeling the busy fever. It could just be the stress of Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas though. In the meantime I have been taking some time to spin.
I finished spinning two skeins of yarns. The First yarn finished was this one:
It is an ambiguous mix of Cormo from when Sue Reuser had sheep, Silk, and fine Suri Alpaca. As you can see it is very "rustic" I did not do any real prep and just threw it all into a drum carder. It is very soft and not very consistent. As you can see it also has some vegetation still in it too. Lol. I do not know what it is going to be. Just one of those experiments of carding up the three fibers. I have about 450 yards and its DK weightish. I swear I just spin whatever the fiber is telling me and hardly ever go for a certain weight. (I need to work on that!) The second skein:
This is combed top from HedgehogFibres! It is super soft merino and I love it. I got got about 300ish yards so its about DK weight. I have no idea what I am going to do with it but it sure is lovely and soft! I wish they offered more fibers, but then again I have enough fiber to spin for right now (like that would stop me though from buying more). I just spun this in strips so it is more consistent.
I am planning another DK update hopefully this week if I can get my act together. It is hard to concentrate sometimes on getting work done when there is so much other work (leaf blowing etc) that needs to get done!
